Neither of the two college football rivalries claiming to be the South’s oldest have played more games than Richmond-William & Mary.

The Spiders and Tribe meet in the Capital Cup Saturday on ASN for the 127th time — more than North Carolina-Virginia (121 games) and Auburn-Georgia (120 games), though both those rivalries started earlier (1892).

The Virginia rivals first met in 1898 with Richmond winning, 15-0. William & Mary leads the series (61-60-5) but hasn’t won since 2011 (25-23).

Only Wisconsin-Minnesota, Lafayette-Lehigh, Princeton-Yale and Harvard-Yale have played more games than Richmond-William & Mary.

The CAA Football showdown is among the reasons you’ll want to to watch Saturday’s games on ASN. Here are 10 more reasons why:

10

Fordham’s Kevin Anderson (above) might be the best quarterback you haven’t seen yet. The senior is 10th in FCS passing efficiency (157.6) after a career day last week against Holy Cross. He threw for a career-high 426 yards, fifth most in school history, and leads the Patriot League (2,397 yards, 25 TDs passing). » Saturday at Bucknell, noon ET

9

Richmond’s Kyle Lauletta, No. 9 in FCS passing with 291.5 yards per game, needs two touchdown passes to tie the single-season school record of 26 set by Michael Strauss in 2013. The junior, who leads CAA Football in passing with 2,915 yards and 24 TDs, has thrown for 200 yards or more in all 10 games this season. » Saturday at William & Mary, noon ET

8

Bucknell’s Will Carter, who has eight 100-yard receiving games in his career, will take a final bow on senior day Saturday at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. In his last hurrah for the Bison, the senior can add to his career school records of 191 receptions, 2,694 yards and 18 TDs. » Saturday vs. Fordham, noon ET

7Temple has seven wins and possibly the best defense you haven’t seen yet. The Owls are tied for first in the American Athletic Conference’s East Division with South Florida at 5-1. They also lead The American in total defense (291.4 yards per game) and scoring defense (20.4 points per game) with two shutouts this season. » Saturday at Tulane, 3:30 p.m. ET

6Richmond’s Brian Brown, an unsung hero in the Spiders’ 8-2 season, is CAA Football’s No. 6 all-time receiving leader (3,818 yards). The senior is first in CAAF and fourth in FCS with 1,100 yards. He has 64 receptions and 9 TDs, also tops in the league. He’s also the first receiver in school history with three 1,000-yard seasons. » Saturday at William & Mary, noon ET

William & Mary’s Kendell Anderson has five 100-yard rushing games this season and he’s hoping for a sixth to end his career with another 1,000-yard season. After gaining 140 yards last week against Towson, the senior needs 142  against Richmond to reach the milestone. He’s averaging 128.2  yards over the past six games. » Saturday, vs. Richmond, noon ET

4

Marshall goes for its fourth win in a disappointing season, but the Thundering Herd is coming off an impressive 42-17 victory against Middle Tennessee last Saturday on ASN. Safety Corey Neely led a resurgent defense that shut out the Blue Raiders in the second half and allowed only 88 total yards. » Saturday vs. FIU, 7 p.m. ET

3Three of Tulane’s seven losses this season have come by seven points or less. The 3-7 Green Wave and first-year head coach Willie Fritz, who is closing in on 200 career victories, are looking for their first American Athletic Conference win against 7-3 Temple. Fun fact: Tulane beat Temple 20-14 in the 1935 Sugar Bowl. » Saturday vs. Temple, 3:30 p.m. ET

2Butch Davis told FIU players this week he wants the Panthers to be on a two-game winning streak when he takes over as head coach next year. That would require wins against Marshall and Old Dominion. Davis also might have the school’s all-time leading rusher when he starts next year. Junior Alex Gardner is 96 yards shy of the mark. » Saturday vs. Marshall, 7 p.m. ET

1Fordham’s Chase Edmonds, the No. 1 rusher in FCS this season with 1,618 yards, could finish his career as the No. 1 rusher in FCS history. The junior has 5,104 yards for his career — 1,455 short of the record set by Adrian Peterson of Georgia Southern (1998-2001). Edmonds is also No. 1 in Patriot League career rushing TDs with 59. » Saturday at Bucknell, noon ET
